Premium Grass & Alfalfa Hay

NEMO Hay produces three types of hay in two distinct bale sizes and formats: small square bales and big round bales. Our small square baler is a Case 8530 inline square baler that will make a 2 tie 50-pound bale approximately 34” long. The baler has a built-in scale so the operator can monitor bale weight while in operation, and make adjustments on the fly. The same goes for bale length and moisture levels: all are monitored continuously and adjusted for on the fly.

Round bales are produced by our Case RB464 baler, which produces a 4x6 bale, typically bales weigh 900-pounds, depending on the exact crop and conditions. This is a very common bale format that can be efficiently handled with modest equipment. We use netwrap with 3 wraps per bale.

ALFALFA

Our alfalfa is a great option for horse owners. Alfalfa is a legume hay crop that has been dubbed the "queen of forage” due to its high quality, nutritional values and ease of growth. Farmers, ranchers and horse owners choose alfalfa because it is a high quality dairy and livestock forage, and can be used for hay or grazing. Alfalfa typically has a 16 to 20% protein rate, and is weed free.

ORCHARD GRASS

Orchard Grass is higher in protein (10-12%), higher in calorie content and contains the same balanced levels of calcium and phosphorus than most grasses (but lower than alfalfa). The higher calorie content of Orchard Grass is a result of higher fiber digestibility compared to Timothy Grass. Orchard Grass (when harvested correctly) produces consistent soft texture hay that horses and other animals readily consume with minimal or no waste.

MEADOW GRASS

We have some really nice big round bales of meadow grass for sale. This is quality hay that is weed free - it is mostly fescue and timothy with some other meadow grasses mixed in. This hay usually runs 6 to 8% protein.
